Wi-Fi is for photos only. You can’t view, transfer, or shoot movies using your smart device. You can’t connect the camera to a computer via a standard wireless network. The camera’s Wi-Fi only works on a peer-to-peer basis: That is, the two devices must be able to talk to each other directly rather than over an intermediate network. Learn and explore Nikon software and apps to help you organise, edit and upload images, anytime and anywhere conveniently at the touch of a button.
The benefit of Wi-Fi® connection doesn't stop with viewing images: it can also help you capture them. The remote shooting function lets you release the shutter from a distance, while your smart device can operate like a remote live view monitor to confirm the image. It's perfect for taking group photo. Here’s the solution that worked for me. I’m a Nikon D850 user, so I will reference that camera body and its setup routines. Yours may differ slightly. Please refer to your camera manual for details about Bluetooth and Wi-Fi setup. As soon as I became somewhat comfortable using the D850, I wanted to use SnapBridge. Wireless Mobile Utility. Wireless Mobile Utility (WMU) is an app that connects your smart device to your Nikon cameras. Easily download images and remotely take photos with the WMU by attaching the WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter or using built-in Wi-Fi®. Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.0 or later.

This software remotely controls most functions of Nikon digital SLRs from a computer that is connected via USB cable or through wired or wireless LAN using a wireless transmitter. Advanced functions of the new Nikon D3 and D300 such as Viewer for preview and selection of images prior to transfer to a computer, Liveview function and Picture Control System are supported. It also supports workflows of Nikon’s exclusive photofinishing software Capture NX (optional) and browser and viewer software ViewNX.
HI there lsumba99,
Free hangouts app mac.
It sounds like the software app to connect your iPad and Nikon camera via Wi-Fi isn't working correctly but it does on your phone. I would start by quitting that app as well as your Settings app:
Force an app to close in iOS

1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:

If that doesn't work then I would use these steps specifically from the following article:
